Many local acts latched on to the skinny tie/power pop sound of the late 70s, but few did it as well as Lookie-Lou (born Louis Clark) and company. The Oglers managed to secure a few opening slots with like-minded touring groups such as the Knack and Joe Jackson, but they never got to headliner status themselves. Lou still makes the occasional “comeback” appearance on the state fair and Westside church festival circuits.
lyrics
romantic affection - should flow in two directions
I want you near - you’re never here
romantic affection - we need a course correction
I want you close - but then you ghost
hey girl you’re never what you seem
you look like you stepped from a dream
so why d’you treat me oh so mean
I guess there’s something ‘bout relationships you never learned
there’s more to matches than the risk of getting fingers burned
romantic affection - should flow in two directions
I want you near - you’re never here
romantic affection - we need a course correction
I want you close - but then you ghost
I come ‘round to see if you’re free
it seems like you’re avoiding me
am I barking up the wrong damn tree
I’m hearing things from all my friends that only make me cringe
this purge of yours is feeling more and more like it’s a binge
romantic affection - should flow in two directions
I want you near - you’re never here
romantic affection - we need a course correction
I want you close - but then you ghost
it’s been a long, long time since I felt the sun shine
it’s been a long, long time since it felt like you were mine
I guess there’s something ‘bout relationships you never learned
there’s more to matches than the risk of fingers getting burned
romantic affection - should flow in two directions
I want you near - you’re never here
romantic affection - we need a course correction
I want you close - but then you ghost
romantic affection - should flow in two directions
I want you near - you’re never here
romantic affection - we need a course correction
I want you close - but then you ghost
